The 2023 edition of the IPL will kick off with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on Chennai SuperKings on the opening day in Ahmedabad. The competition will start five days after the end of the WPL's inaugural season.
The new campaign will see 10 teams compete in 70 league matches across 52 matchdays. The 1000th match of the IPL will take place in the new season and will be played in Chepauk on May 6 with two of the most successful teams in the history of the competition, CSK and Mumbai Indians, going head-to-head.
There will be two groups in the league this season with Mumbai Indians, Kolkata KnightRiders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow SuperGiants in Group A. Group B will see Gujarat Titans alongside Chennai SuperKings, Punjab Kings, SunRisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The first double-header of the season will be on April 1 with KKR taking on PBKS in Mohali and DC locking horns with LSG in Lucknow. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians will begin their campaign with a thrilling clash against RCB on April 2. The final is scheduled for May 28.
